Where BHD started

BHD stands for Bin Haider Darwish, the name of Ali's grandfather. The group trades as Bin Haider Darwish LLC. Its first company was a print shop: BHD Printing & Designing. Printing is still the root of the group.

From that start, BHD Group has grown to 14 companies in printing, technology, software platforms and sovereign AI. They include Hosn, Mithaq, Cardify, Dardasha, Paper & Pen, ReachScreens, Q+, arabian.ceo and Splitty. Ali is also a co-founder of The Flower Bar.

His roles today

Founder and CEO, BHD Group, since 2019.
Head of Strategic Planning, ITHCA Group, since February 2025.
Secretary to the Board of DataOm, ITHCA Group's submarine cable company, since October 2023.
Board member, Oman Fencing Committee, since 2023.

Public service and earlier career

From November 2021 to June 2023, Ali was Head of Business Environment at the Oman Vision 2040 Office. In that role he built the Invest in Oman centre. He also worked on the National Investment Strategy, which narrowed 43 sectors to 8 priority sectors.

Before that, he worked at Oman Broadband, Oman Aviation Group, EY and the Central Bank of Oman. His career began in 2017.

Education

Ali is a doctoral candidate in Innovation and Management at the University of Central Lancashire. He holds an MSc in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Design and a BSc in Economics and Management, both from Brunel University London. He completed the IB Diploma at The Sultan's School in Oman.

A Gulf award with a print shop on the record

In November 2025, the Family Business Council Gulf gave Ali its Next Generation Award. He was the first Omani to win it. The FBCG winners list names him with BHD Printing and Designing, Oman. You can read the archived FBCG awards page.

How he talks about print quality

When BHD Printing completed its ISO 9001:2015 quality documentation, Ali said: “Quality in printing is not a slogan, it is a system.” The full statement is in our ISO 9001:2015 press release.

What this means for customers
